Our Catskills Haunted House

A home-made independent Haunted House in the heart of the Catskills? Sounds too good to be true. It’s true, it’s good…and it’s gloriously spooky!

The House was there when we started, well over a decade ago. Ever since we’ve known them, the’ve been a favorite Catskills haunt, thrilling and chilling visitors with a 40-minute plunge into terror, crafted by horror visionaries Tom Uhll and Dale Handel since its ghastly debut in 1997.

Massacre Mansion is: a spine-tingling odyssey through a haunted graveyard, a sinister Victorian mansion, a disorienting clown maze, a pitch-black labyrinth, and a tractor ride bristling with shocks awaits.

Multi-Stage Experience

Step into the Gothic graveyard, where fog swirls around ancient tombstones and “Crazy Joe,” the gravedigger, sets an eerie tone. As one vendor put it, “Tombstones loom in the mist, the air thick with decay.” Next, the Massacre Mansion looms—a two-story Victorian nightmare ruled by Dr. Angus Fear and his brother Edger, with over 13 gruesome scenes of blood-streaked walls and spectral figures.

And there’s even more.

Then, brave Extreme Darkness, a suffocating maze where senses falter, followed by Wolf Hollow, a wooded trail of lurking horrors. The tractor ride seals your fate with jolts of terror. At $20 (free for kids 5 and under), this 40-minute haunt is a steal, as per the resort’s Facebook. More Than a Haunt, Massacre Mansion is set within Blackthorne Resort’s spooky splendor, featuring a 17-foot Giant Steampunk Halloween Robot, a quirky tree house, and the fabled Honey Tree, as touted on the resort’s website. These oddities make it a full Halloween adventure, perfect for thrill-seekers and families alike. A Tripadvisor review raved, “The haunted house is amazingly coordinated,” paired with live music and a vendor market!
